On this day, the Provisional Council of State approved the Zionist flag as the flag of Israel. The Israel State Archives record that a committee had decided on July 28 to adopt that flag, and that the council approved the decision on October 28.

The proclamation, signed by Speaker Yosef Sprinzak, describes a white flag, 220 centimeters by 160, with two dark sky-blue stripes and a Star of David between them. It is dated 25 Tishrei 5709.
