On this day, the Knesset enacted the Magen David Adom Law. Magen David Adom records that the law, passed on 12 July 1950, recognized the society as the organization charged in Israel with the functions the Geneva Conventions assign to a national aid society.

The law established a society named Magen David Adom in Israel. On the day its statute took effect, the rights and obligations of the existing national organization and the local societies listed in the schedule passed to it. David Ben-Gurion, Yosef Sprinzak, and Moshe Shapira signed. The Knesset’s legislation page records first publication in the official gazette on 21 July 1950.
