On this day, Nahman Avigad was born in Zawalow, in Galicia. Frank Moore Cross recorded the date as 25 September 1905 and named his parents as Isak and Perl Reiss. Avigad immigrated in 1925 and spent his career in the archaeology department of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
He died in Jerusalem on 28 January 1992.
