On this day, Yitzhak Zuckerman was born in Vilna. He was known in the underground as Antek. Yad Vashem records that he moved to Warsaw to work for the Dror He-Halutz youth movement and that, when Germany began the mass deportations from the Warsaw ghetto, he and other youth leaders founded the Jewish Fighting Organization, the ŻOB, on 28 July 1942.

The ŻOB sent him to the Polish side of the city before the April 1943 uprising. From there he tried to get arms into the ghetto, and in the last stage of the fighting he helped lead fighters out through the sewers. He and Zivia Lubetkin later settled at Kibbutz Lohamei HaGeta'ot. He testified at the Eichmann trial in 1961 and died in 1981.
