On this day, Israel and Jordan signed a treaty of peace at the Arava crossing. Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin signed for Israel and Prime Minister Abdul Salam Majali for Jordan. President Bill Clinton witnessed the signing.

The treaty says peace is established when the instruments of ratification are exchanged. It was done in Hebrew, Arabic, and English, and it records the Hebrew date 21 Heshvan 5755 and the Islamic date 21 Jumada al-Ula 1415.
