On this day, President Anwar Sadat of Egypt addressed a special session of the Knesset in Jerusalem. The Knesset record places the session at 4 p.m. on November 20, 1977. He told the members he had come to establish peace.

Prime Minister Menachem Begin answered him in the same session. The Camp David Accords followed in 1978, and the Egypt-Israel peace treaty in 1979.
