In September 1950, the airlift of Yemenite Jews known as Operation Magic Carpet, or On Wings of Eagles, was brought to an end. The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee records that it organized the flights and that the last plane left Aden on 19 September 1950.

The Jerusalem Post records that the last two planes, carrying 177 people, landed in Israel on 24 September. A Joint Distribution Committee bulletin dated 25 September said the operation was scheduled to end that night.
