Shearith Israel Consecrates the Mill Street Synagogue
On 8 April 1730, the seventh day of Passover, Congregation Shearith Israel consecrated its Mill Street synagogue, the first purpose-built synagogue in continental North America. British New York still used the Julian calendar.
